Valley of the Wolves is a direct reference to the Wolf Mountains in Montana on the Crow Rez. A place called Valley of the Chiefs.

I like to refer to that place as Valley of the Wolves. I have many relatives in that area. There is a darkness there, but I also believe there is a way of healing and a better living for all people.

This song is full of visceral imagery. I am not afraid to speak on certain realities and tough subjects.
“In a valley where the wolves don’t sleep” is a direct reference to the drug use in the area. “I am a resident of all I see” is that understanding as a young man that I am influenced by the hardship around me. “I know I’m gonna be somebody” is that little voice that spoke to me even in some of the most isolated and hard times, encouraging me to hope in a greater life beyond the hardships on a Rez.
